One year introduction to theology – Certificate

Curriculum can be adjusted for each student individually, with core curriculum courses:  Introduction to the Old Testament, Introduction to the New Testament and Introduction to Systematic Theology. Lay preachers of the Protestant Reformed Christian Church need to go through a specialized curriculum assigned by the Bishop, and in that way receive the certificate for ministrering as a lay preacher in the Protestant Reformed Christian Church. 60 ECTS points is a minimum to accomplish this Cetificate.

 

Three year program in theology – Theologian

Student needs to accomplish 180 ECTS points and successfully defend the final paper after which the student receives the title Theologian (equivalent of Bachelor in Theology or Bachelor of Arts in Theology, BA). After finishing one year introduction to theology program, the student can sign (decide) the 2nd year of the Three year program in theology.

Four year program in theology – Bachelor of Divinity

Student needs to accomplish 240 ECTS points and to successfully defend the graduate paper after which one receives the title of Bachelor of Divinity, B.D. After finishing the Three year program in theology in this or in some other theological faculty recognized by PTU, and after accomplishing 180 ECTS points, student can sign (decide) the 4th year at PTU.

Five year program in theology – Master of Divinity

Student needs to accomplish 300 ECTS points and successfully defend the master’s thesis after which one receives the title of Master of Divinity, M.Div. The program is for students who completed the four year program in theology, having accomplished 240 ECTS points with a minimum of 3.5 grade point average. The program also welcomes the students who finished the old four year program in theology.

Non academic programs
For the needs of active laymen of the Protestant Reformed Christian Church, PTU is organizing a special one year program in which the student does not accomplish ECTS points, but rather receives a certificate. Non academic programs are organized by the dean.

 

Church exam for candidates for priesthood

Before their ordination, and according to the Church canons, the candidates for priesthood must pass the Church exam. The board for the exam is named by the bishop of the Church.
